Yoga for body pain, tension and everyday movement
Your body is not asking to be forced. It is asking to be understood.
RELIEF is a practical yoga course for people who want to support their body through therapeutic, alignment-based practice, breath awareness, relaxation and realistic daily-life tools.
It is especially suitable if you experience back pain, neck and shoulder tension, hip stiffness, joint discomfort, desk-body strain, body aches, poor posture habits or general physical tension from modern life.
The aim is not to give you a random collection of exercises. The aim is to help you understand how your body moves, where it holds unnecessary tension, how breath and stress influence physical discomfort, and how simple yoga practices can support relief, steadiness and better daily movement.
Who RELIEF is for
RELIEF may be suitable if your body is asking for support, clarity and a calmer way to move.
- you experience recurring back pain or lower back tension
- you have neck, shoulder or upper back tightness
- you feel stiffness in the hips, knees, ankles, wrists or other joints
- you sit for long hours at a desk or computer
- you feel your posture has become tense, collapsed or rigid
- you wake up with body aches or heaviness
- you feel unsure which movements are safe or helpful
- you have tried stretching but still feel tense
- you want a calmer and more intelligent way to move
- you want to support your body without aggressive exercise
- you need short practices you can repeat at home
- you want to become more aware of your body in daily life
You do not need previous yoga experience. You do not need to be flexible. You begin with the body you have now.
The purpose of RELIEF
Many people try to deal with pain or tension by doing more: more stretching, more effort, more exercise, more posture correction and more searching for the perfect solution.
The body often needs more than force
- awareness
- support
- breath
- gradual movement
- rest
- better rhythm
- clearer understanding
A wiser question
The question is not:
“How do I fix my body quickly?”
The better question is:
“How can I support my body more wisely every day?”
RELIEF helps you slow down enough to notice what is happening in your body and begin to practise in a way that supports your real condition.
What kind of pain and tension can RELIEF support?
RELIEF is not limited to one area of the body. It may support people dealing with everyday pain, tension, stiffness and physical strain.
Back, neck and shoulders
- lower back tension
- upper back stiffness
- neck and shoulder tension
- postural fatigue
- desk-related body tension
Hips, legs and joints
- hip stiffness
- knee discomfort
- ankle and foot tension
- wrist and elbow strain
- general joint awareness
Whole-body patterns
- general stiffness
- muscle guarding
- stress-related body holding
- tiredness from sitting too long
- tiredness from standing too long
The course does not diagnose pain or replace medical care. It helps you explore how yoga practice, breath, rest and daily habits can support your body from within.
What you will learn
During RELIEF, you may learn how to practise in a way that gives you tools you can repeat, understand and gradually trust.
- move with more awareness and less strain
- recognise unnecessary tension in the body
- understand the relationship between posture, breath and stress
- support the back, neck, shoulders, hips and joints
- practise simple yoga postures safely
- use props and support intelligently
- avoid forcing stretches that aggravate the body
- calm the nervous system through breath and relaxation
- include short practices in a busy day
- build a realistic home-practice rhythm
- listen to the body without becoming afraid of movement
- become more active in your own wellbeing
The course is practical, but not superficial.
What makes RELIEF different?
RELIEF is designed to be intelligent, therapeutic and realistic — not forceful, performative or disconnected from daily life.
It is not about perfect posture
RELIEF does not teach you to sit or stand stiffly. A rigid “perfect posture” often creates more tension.
Posture becomes alive, not forced.
It is not aggressive stretching
The body does not always respond well to force. RELIEF teaches you to work with support, breath, gradual opening and intelligent alignment.
It includes the nervous system
Pain and tension are not only mechanical. Stress, fear, fatigue, sleep, breath and emotional load can influence how the body feels.
It is designed for real life
You do not need a perfect studio or two hours every day. You learn short practices, micro-resets and realistic routines.
The aim is not to pull the body apart. The aim is to create conditions where unnecessary tension can begin to release.
How the practice works
RELIEF combines several layers of yoga-based support.
Alignment-based movement
You learn how to organise the body with more clarity: feet, legs, pelvis, spine, hands, arms, shoulders, neck, head and breath.
Supported yoga postures
Props, walls, chairs, blankets and simple supports may be used to make practice safer and more accessible.
Breath awareness
You learn to notice how the breath changes with tension, effort and stress — and how to regulate it with short, simple freeing techniques.
Relaxation
You learn how to rest consciously so the nervous system can settle and the body can integrate practice, including micro-breaks during work time.
Daily-life awareness
You explore how sitting, working, standing, walking, stress and rhythm affect the body — and how to interrupt harmful patterns.
Self-practice
You build simple routines that can be repeated at home as well as during the work day.
Possible course structure
The exact structure may depend on the current edition, but RELIEF may include themes such as:
Module 1: Understanding your body
A simple introduction to how pain, tension, stress, posture, breath and daily habits interact.
Module 2: Lower back and spine support
Gentle, therapeutic practices for the lower back, pelvis, spine and sitting-related tension.
Module 3: Neck, shoulders and upper back
Practices for common desk-body patterns, shoulder tension, upper back stiffness and breath restriction.
Module 4: Hips, knees, ankles and feet
Work with the lower body, grounding, balance, leg alignment and joint awareness.
Module 5: Breath, rest and nervous-system calming
Relaxation, breath awareness and practices that help the body feel safer and less guarded.
Module 6: Home and work-hours practice
How to choose what to practise, how often, how long, and how to adapt when the body feels different from day to day.
This structure can also become part of the wider SELF-HEALING pathway. RELIEF gives you the body foundation.
What may be included
Depending on the edition, RELIEF may include practical resources, guided support and short routines for real life.
Practice tools
- video lessons
- guided therapeutic yoga practices
- short daily routines
- micro-practices for work breaks
- home-practice guidance

Understanding and adaptation
- simple anatomy and physiology explanations
- self-observation prompts
- suggestions for adapting practice to your body
- support for safer movement
- realistic daily-life planning
A simple practice that you actually repeat is more powerful than a complicated plan that stays untouched.
RELIEF for desk-workers
RELIEF may be especially helpful if you work at a computer or spend long hours sitting.
Desk work can affect the whole body
- the lower back becomes tired
- the hips become stiff
- the shoulders round or tense
- the neck overworks
RELIEF brings practice into the work day
- the wrists and elbows become strained
- the breath becomes shallow
- the nervous system stays activated
- the body forgets variety of movement
RELIEF helps you bring movement, breath and awareness back into your working life — not by blaming sitting, but by teaching you how to interrupt tension and stress patterns.
RELIEF and joint pain
Many people think yoga is mainly about stretching muscles. But joints need intelligent care too.
RELIEF may support awareness around
- hips
- knees
- ankles
- feet
And also around
- shoulders
- elbows
- wrists
- spine
The aim is not to force range of motion. The aim is to learn how to align, support, stabilise, move and rest with more awareness.
If you have acute, severe or medically complex joint pain, please seek appropriate medical advice and enquire before joining.
How RELIEF connects to the wider pathway
RELIEF is the first doorway. It begins with the body because the body is often where people first feel that something needs attention.
RELIEF → CALM / FOCUS
When the body becomes more supported, the breath and nervous system often become easier to regulate.
Explore CALM / FOCUSRELIEF → SELF-HEALING
When you understand your body better, you may become ready to look at the wider healing picture: energy, lifestyle, rhythm, stress, emotions and inner attitude.
Explore SELF-HEALINGRELIEF → ASCEND
When the body is more stable and less tense, meditation and deeper inner practice often become more accessible.
Explore ASCENDThe path does not end with symptom relief. But relief is a meaningful, compassionate and right place to begin.
This course may be right for you if…
You are ready to learn how to support your body with more care within the real life you are living.
You want a practice that is
- clear
- calm
- therapeutic
- realistic
- body-aware
And also
- beginner-friendly
- rooted in alignment
- connected to breath and rest
- suitable for real daily life
- focused on understanding, not performance
You are not looking for a quick trick. You are looking for a more intelligent way to support your body.
This course may not be the right first step if…
RELIEF may not be the right starting point if you have acute, severe, unclear or rapidly worsening symptoms.
- acute or severe pain
- recent injury or surgery
- unexplained symptoms
- neurological symptoms such as numbness, tingling or weakness
- serious medical conditions requiring supervision
- pain that is worsening quickly
- difficulty participating safely in online or group practice
In these situations, a Yoga Therapy Consultation and appropriate medical or physiotherapy care may be a better first step.
A careful and responsible approach
RELIEF is a yoga-based educational and practice course.
It can support body awareness, movement, breath, relaxation, self-practice and wellbeing.
It is not medical diagnosis, physiotherapy, psychotherapy or prescribed rehabilitation.
If you are recovering from illness, living with a chronic condition, experiencing acute or severe pain, pregnancy, serious fatigue, mental health concerns or symptoms that feel unsafe or unclear, please seek appropriate professional advice and enquire before joining.
The aim is not to ignore pain. The aim is to practise with awareness, support and discernment.
A mature practice begins by listening.
